Dr. Hummel studied at the University of applied science Konstanz, faculty for mechanical engineering and received diploma in mechanical engineering Dipl.-Ing. (FH). She made external doctoral studies at the Wroclaw University of Technology and at the  Institute of Production Engineering and
Automation. She got the in November 2002. She is Professor at the Reutling University, Germany.
