Excursion to Austrian High Tech Companies

On October 13, 2016 the participants of the 7th Professional MBA Program visited Pankl Engine Systems, Bruck an der Mur and KTM Sportcar GmbH in Graz.

Pankl Racing systems is an Austrian Company which consists of three divisions, Racing, Aerospace and High Performance. Participants visited Pankl Engine Systems, Bruck an der Mur which is developing and manufacturing engine and drivetrain components for racing cars, high performance vehicles and the aerospace industry. After the company presentation participants went through the shop floor. The big advantage of Pankl Engine Systems is to manufacture parts from high strength steel and titanium alloys.

KTM is an Austrian off-road and street motorcycles producer. Beside of the motorcycle production in cooperation with KISKA Design, AUDI and Dallara KTM developed KTM X-Bow - a sports car for road and race use - which was introduced at Geneva Motor Show 2008. In the factory in Graz the participants could see the logistics and production of the X-Bow. It was interesting to see the logistics of the in Germany produced monocoque which is composed of carbon fibers. The compact production line and its quality assurance system keep the high quality of the cars.

The excursion gave participants a good opportunity to know how Austrian High Tech companies run their business successfully. The participants and the program management thank to two companies for the tour and fruitful discussions
