Visit to Hyundai MOBIS Slovakia and Central European Institute of Technology (CEIT) in Zilina, Slovak Republic


On Friday 1st July, 2016 the seventh study group of two-year combined international program Professional MBA Automotive Industry 2015 – 2017, established as cooperation of two renowned Central European technical universities TU Wien and STU Bratislava, has visited two important companies of Slovak industry located in Žilina: manufacturing supply plant Hyundai MOBIS Slovakia, Ltd. and institute of technology, CEIT, Inc.

The MOBIS is the biggest supplier of modules and systems for KIA Motors Slovakia assembly. Four types of modules are produced here: Frontend Module, Cockpit Module, Chassis Module and Bumper Module. In 2015, 1600 employees created added value by sales of more than 1,3 mld. €. Worldwide MOBIS ranks among one of the top global leaders of the auto parts supplier sector. It was Mr. Lim Young Deuk, CEO Mobis Co., Ltd. who openly welcomed the group of program participants. Presentation of company´s history and current production followed by Mr. Milan Vojtek, M.Eng., Department Quality Control Leader with the focus on portfolio development and expansion of innovative auto parts. He also replied to participants´ questions mainly aimed on quality, which stemmed from the subject of the entire module „Process & Quality Management in the Automotive Industry“. Topics like logistics, cultural aspects of central European location of the plant in the global competition, or the criteria for the supplier selection were also discussed within the round table communication. Presentation of assembled auto parts in the show room, as well as tour of the assembly line of one of the modules was final part of the visit.

In the afternoon ´Professional MBA Automotive Industry´ participants visited the Slovak leader in research and development of innovative solutions for manufacturing - CEIT (Central European Institute of Technology). Mr. Dipl.- Ing. Pavol Borčin, CEIT Business Development Director shorty introduced rapidly developing company operating in the region of Central Europe with demanding solutions and  services offered in the fields of technical and process innovations, industry automatization, design, material and biomedical engineering, as well as  education. After introducing CEIT´s product portfolio, specialized technic and technological innovation were presented as for logistics solution successful mobile robotic systems, 3D print, digitalization of assembly facilities and lines, interactive virtual trainer for production operators, logistic and production systems planning tool in 3D environment CEIT Table, single purpose machine, application of ergonomic analysis of workplaces and work locations CERAA, and other tools for industrial practice. After the tour, lecture on topic "Innovative Process and Industry SMART" was given by Mr. Ing. Andrej Štefánik, PhD. In the following discussion participants had the opportunity to exchange information on offered solutions and were interested in new ways of technological improvement of the production processes.

Social event within the day schedule for the group of 18 students from 6 countries of the world also was the common lunch in Zilina, as the part of the last of four modules organized in Bratislava during their study. Final two semesters will take place at TU Vienna.
