Visit to companies in Hungary: Professional MBA Automotive Industry

On Thursday April 21st, 2016 the group of eighteen international program „Professional MBA Automotive Industry“ participants of six different countries of Europe and world visited two significant automobile production plants: Audi Hungaria Motor Kft., Györ, a subsidiary of Europe's largest carmaker Volkswagen and SMR Automotive Mirror Technology in Mosonmagyaróvár, Hungary. AUDI is the world's largest producer of engines – in the year 2015 two million units of gasoline and diesel engines were produced here. Successful vehicles with customers worldwide produced in the plant are Audi A3 Sedan, Audi A3 Cabriolet, Audi TT Coupé and Audi TT Roadster. SMR plant in Mosonmagyaróvár is mainly specialized in the production of mirrors for vehicles of higher class, the main customers are Volkswagen, Porsche, AUDI, or BMW.

Within the morning schedule, group of participants visited the SMR Automotive Mirror Technology Hungary in Mosonmagyaróvár. A roundtable discussion together with presentation of the company was led by the Plant Manager Mr. Attila Fülöp, who responded openly and in detail to a large number of participants questions given on to get aquainted with financial, organizational or strategy management. Not only the plant´s main characteristics were presented, but also its structure, processes, quality improvement strategies and others. Subsequently, students divided into three groups visited the production.

In the afternoon, the visit proceeded to AUDI plant in Győr built on area up to 516 hectares and with actual number of around 11,500 employees. The group of students was openly welcomed by a graduate of the Professional MBA Automotive Industry Program, Dr. Lászlo András Horváth, MBA, the Head of legal advice central functions at AUDI HUNGARIA SERVICES Zrt. He introduced the company and after the presentation press shop, welding shop and body shop were visited with commentary by professional guide for AUDI visits.

The participants and the program management would like to express gratitude to both companies for the visit and discussion.

Excursions and onsite lecutres are integral part of the program that links theory and practice and brings the participant opportunities to meet members of top management of a wide variety of automotive plants´ segments, or supplier industry plants of international importance, whether in the form of excursions or „Business Evenings“. The program is a mutual educational activity of two renowned technical universities - TU Wien & STU in Bratislava. On October 06, 2016 the MBA-Program, which is unique in Europe, will start for eighth time. The application for the program should be submitted before June 30, 2016.
