Business Evening with Dr. Andreas Tostmann, Member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Brand responsible for Production and Logistics


Nowadays, the automotive and component supply industries are met with important challenges, like e-mobility, digitalization, changing customer behaviors of the so-called generation XYZ, new players on the market, globalization and others. In order to stay competitive, present and future managers of the automotive industry should be able to identify short-term and long-term challenges, to structure complex, dynamic projects and to make the right decisions in complex and difficult situations. In order to hear the current and future challenges of the automotive industry the Professional MBA Automotive Industry Program is organizing Business Evenings with Opinionleaders in the automotive industry.

In 2009 the Professional MBA Automotive Industry Program (http://automotive.tuwien.ac.at) started for the first time. As one of the advisory board members Dr.-Ing.hc Andreas Tostmann (Member of the Board of Management responsible for Production and Logistics, Volkswagen AG) has contributed to the program for the curriculum development. In 2019 the in Europe unique MBA Programm for automotive Industry celebrates the 10th anniversary. Since 10 years he has followed the development of the automotive industry and the Professional MBA Automotive Industry program. On May 16, 2019 Dr.-Ing.hc Andreas Tostmann gave a lecture on the subject of “Transformation – the road to future mobility”.

Dr. Tostmann started with his lecture with the comparison the e-Mobility situation in 2009 and 2019. Not only the technology development but also the transformation in the society, like global greenhouse gas emission has played an important role in the development of the automotive Industry. He spoke about the why the e-vehicle will be a solution for decarbonizing road transport and described the current issues in the e-vehicle and explained the possible solutions and future trends. Also he gave an overview how Volkswagen will commit to reach the target of the Paris Climate Change Agreement in 2015.

It was a good opportunity to know the future trends of Volkswagen Group for reduction of CO2 emissions.
